THEATRE ONSET PRESENTS ‘GOD OF CARNAGE’
Two upper middle class couples meet in a Paris apartment to civilly discuss a violent altercation between their children. Coffee is served and then cake … and then rum. And the results are anything but civil. Yasmina Reza’s savagely funny play God of Carnage was first performed in 2004 and went on to win the Olivier Awards for Best New Play and Best Comedy in London and the Tony for Best Play in New York. Its international productions have featured such stars as Ralph Fiennes, Jeff Daniels, Tamsin Grieg, Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davies, Isabelle Huppert, Lucy Liu and James Gandolfini. In 2011 it was adapted into a hit film by Roman Polanski which featured Christoph Waltz, John C. Reilly, Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet.
Theatre Onset will present God of Carnage in June at The Funhouse in Bega with Makushla Bourke, Brooke Edwards, John Fitzmaurice and Jamie Forbes, under the direction of Mahamati and David Stocker.
“God of Carnage is hilarious, biting, adult and raw … just the thing for a winter night out!” says Theatre Onset President, Rebecca Lupton.
